EP 136: Building Your Dream Barndo? Meet The Aspen Floorplan | The Barndo Show

What's up? Have you been looking for a four bedroom barn dominium, but you don't want to spend 4,000 square foot pricing? Well, you're in luck.

So check out the Aspen series by the barn doco.

So we have a couple of different renditions of this.

There's Aspen one, there's Aspen two, there's Aspen three, the Aspen one and the Aspen three are both awesome four bedroom options.

Uh, the biggest difference you're going to see in the two is the Aspen three adds a third full bath.

Um, But you may not need that, or maybe you do, but you can check those things out online.

The cool thing about the Aspen is this.

It is one of the marquee barn doco plans that we have built time and time again, which is, again, why there's so many different versions of it, because we've custom crafted it to fit different families' needs.

But the beautiful thing about this is it's 2,200 and some change square feet of and it gives you a ton of space, but it also saves your budget.

You don't have to be big to be Barndo.

So let's talk about this plan for a second.

If you were to walk into the Aspen, what you're going to notice is you're going to get this big shotgun living area that has become one of the biggest selling features of all of our Bardoco plans.

You have this giant central area where is the main gathering points of the house.

So you got your living room, your dining room and your kitchen.

kind of all in this one big open area.

So if you're entertaining or the family's hanging out, everyone's there in the middle.

And then we do the typical BarndoCo split where your primary suite is off to one side and all of your guest bedrooms are off to the other.

And the Aspen is no exception to that rule.

One of the things I love the most about the Aspen is you get a giant primary suite closet.

Um, there's a couple of different configurations that closet, depending on what version you're clicking on, but you get a massive, uh, closet area for your primary suite.

And then of course your own primary, uh, bathroom suite that backs up to the side of the house where your laundry's at.

Um, there is a powder room or a half bath, uh, in the Aspen as well.

So again, you're going to get two and a half baths or three and a half baths, depending on which one of the versions you go with.

So you get a lot of bang for your buck.

At 2,200 square feet, it's not small, but it's also not overly large.

So it fits nicely into a lot of people's budget that are trying to accommodate their family.

And the other side about it is the Aspen is one of our amazing single-level homes where you get this really ranch-style feel that we like to claim that we're helping bring back.

We have several two-story options as well, but I've always been a fan of, hey, it's better to build on one level and not have any issues than to build a two-story home and then down the road realize, hey, I just made half of my house inaccessible to someone in my family.

Especially if you're planning on aging in place there, right? Like you may can go up and downstairs with no problems now, but there may be a day where that becomes a burden to you.

So it just, it's a great optimization of layout to get everybody on the same level.

I know my wife, that's a big thing for her.

She, you know, she, she loves for the kids to be on the same level as us.

There's everything she needs to get to the kids.

She can get there quickly.

Um, it's a lot easier to kind of check in.

Um, you know, if you've, if you ever lived in a two story home, it's the dreaded chaos of walking up those stairs because you know that the kids have been running around up there feral for the last few days.

So the single, the single level is kind of something that we're really passionate about at the Barndo Co and the Aspen offers that.

The cool thing about the Aspen is it also has these massive front porches.

Um, so you can have your big Southern, um, front porch where you could sit out on your rocking chairs and, you know, look out over the property you're building on.

But it also mirrors that in the back with a giant rear covered patio for the same thing.

And part of the thing that we do at Barndo is we know that the outside of the home matches the adventurous spirit of our clients just as much as the inside of the home.

And so the Aspen allows you to take the home out of the walls of the home and have that spot where you can gather with friends and family, put a pool out back, Have your cornhole boards, whatever.

You got plenty of room to keep the grills covered.

You got plenty of room to put that big, beautiful outdoor patio set.

And it's not getting rained on during every summer thunderstorm across the southeast.

It's just great.

You also have the option there to add a garage.

I think the plan showcases a two car garage.

It kind of comes standard.

You can opt out of the garage.

Or you could make it a three- or four-car garage if you wanted to.

It's just designed to be integrated with any of the various garage sizes that we offer at BarndoCo.

But one of the things that make the Aspen a done deal, especially for families with children, is you'll notice on the guest wing of the home, Uh, there is a family room.

Um, and that family room on the Aspen one is pretty large because again, you, you know, you, you got one bathroom on that side of the house versus two.

Um, but it's a great spot where you can have a set of barn doors, close that area off.

Guests are coming over.

Your kids have their own place to scatter their toys and drag things around.

And, um, it just makes cleanup that much easier.

You throw it in their side of the house, close the barn door.

We're ready for company.

Um, Also, it's a great place for them to sit and play video games or listen to music or whatever it is they're doing while you're enjoying the living room and there's not a fight over that one central command station who's watching the big TV.

So, Dad, when football season's here, you got your sanctuary.

Or, hey, put you a TV out on that back patio and hang out back there.

Um, but it's a great thing.

Another cool thing about the Aspen is because it's such a popular plan.

We also rolled this over to our SFH homes lineup.

So if Barndo is what you want, but it's just out of the budget, you could look at our SFH home line, which is our more traditional craftsman style homes.

Um, and we took that same floor plan over there and on the SFH version, it is the Aspen three.

Um, so that, that family room area gets a little smaller is still there, uh, you know, as like a little, a bigger than a hallway area for you to have a place to, you know, collect all the kids things, have a landing zone for them outside of the bedrooms.

Um, and of course you're going to add that third full bath in that model.

And the, the cool thing is, is you can move into an SFH version of the Aspen for, I think 300 and 90,000 or slightly less than $390,000 turnkey.

So it's a great affordable option for people who need four bedrooms, but maybe not 4,000 square feet.
