Jess JewellGuestMatt RisbyHostWrenGuestMichelle KellyGuestWhat impossible threshold did you cross, and how did your mastery of the body make you the quiet legend of your order?
That tank is filled with water, and in that tank is Fenwyn, much younger than he is now, maybe even kind of late teens.
And the initiates watch in amazement as around the room hour glasses are turned to mark the passing of time within which Fenwyn has been in this watery prison.
How much longer can he hold out? We then see Fenwyn very nearly the age he is now, and we see where this training has been put into practice.
There is a still ocean, and it is bronzed by the sun, uh, as it's dropping over the horizon in the distance.
We see a fleet of heavily armed galleys, uh, protecting three ships, each bearing on its masts the sigils of royalty, of wealth.
And beneath the surface, completely submerged, is Fenwyn clinging to the underside of the hull of one of these ships.
We see that the shore is miles away, and he is just waiting patiently for the sun to disappear completely.
Back in the tank, there are quickly hushed gasps spreading around the room as, uh, what looks like a barely perceptible grimace flashes across Fenwyn's face as the serpent squeezes.
His shoulders start to fold inward with a crunch, and the serpent unhinges its jaw, slips its mouth around Fenwyn's head, and starts to slowly swallow him whole.
Blending into the shadows is nothing to Fenwyn, nor is getting below decks, not a blade drawn, not a drop of blood spilled.
The serpent is slowly turning in the murky water, and the initiates are losing their shit.
We can see the outline of Fenwyn's body, the relief almost perfectly imprinted into this serpent's belly.
