Yeah, there's a lot that goes into determining whether an AAC, an alternative augmentative communication system, is appropriate for a child, right? So I have a child with apraxia of speech right now, and he understands everything.
He can point to different pictures.
He can follow directions.
He just cannot.
So the apraxia is his brain wants to say something, but his mouth is not able to make those exact sounds, right? Right, right.
But what's impacting his ability to use, like I tried an iPad, a tablet kind of AAC.
His attention, his hyperactivity is impacting his ability to use it appropriately because he just wants to hit everything.
And so we're going to go to more of like a pointing board or a picture exchange, something really low tech.
So he can have a limited amount of choices, but be more exact in his communication.
