Hi, I'm Morgan.

I'm an alcoholic.

Hi, Morgan.

My sobriety date is June 7th, 2012.

My home group is the Atlantic Group.

I have a sponsor.

We're currently reworking the steps, and I just finished step two.

And, um, I'm an alcoholic.

And so those are my basics, and I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to be of service and speak on a tradition.

The traditions are-- I'm excited by them.

I love them, and they're a huge part of my sobriety and recovery.

I've always been taught, um, it was actually by a sponsor, my second sponsor I had.

I'd already done all the steps, and she let me know it was time to move on to the traditions.

And we did both the steps and the traditions at the same time in tandem.

And it was explained to me that our group is found on these purposes and principles of unity, service, and recovery.

So recovery is the 12 steps, and unity is gonna be the 12 traditions.

And the only way I can truly practice step 12, practicing these principles in all my affairs, is by having an intimate relationship with the traditions and ensuring that I learn how to do them in the rooms and then learn how to do them outside of the rooms as well.

So for anyone that's brand new, this is just a really cool info session on, like, how this amazing community works.

And, um, yeah, I hope you en- I hope you enjoy some of the cool stuff about it.

Sorry, I should have started with that.

What is tradition eight? Tradition eight, Alcoholics Anonymous should remain forever non-professional.

We define professionalism as the occupation of counseling alcoholics for fees or higher.

But we may employ alcoholics where they are going to perform those services for which we might otherwise have to engage non-alcoholics.
