If you’ve ever dreamed of having a more confident voice - only to have a voice inside your head say: “Don’t be silly - you’re not capable” Then today’s episode is for you. The truth is - if you…
It can be really easy to think of dreaming big as being frivolous, something that is optional, something that feels good, but isn't an important ingredient when it comes to your growth.
What I have seen in my six years of coaching is that when someone struggles to dream big, they also struggle to achieve big, and the reverse is true.
When someone gets good at dreaming big for themselves, they also get good at achieving big things.
Now, what I'm teaching you today applies regardless of what your goal and dream actually is.
For a lot of the women that I work with, their dream is to walk into that intimidating meeting where leadership is present and feel totally confident, feel like they belong in the room, and feel like they can show up and naturally just take the lead without doubting themselves, without second-guessing what it is they're gonna say.
Their dream also includes being respected, having a very solid, very undeniable reputation as a leader who knows how to advocate and get things done.
And for many of my clients, they also dream of stepping into a bigger leadership role.
So whatever your dream includes, whether it overlaps with that, whether it's different, there's no right or wrong.
What I'm talking about in today's episode is the dream that feels appealing to you, the thing that you would want most if you could write down a wish list for your career and make that wish list happen.
Now, so often we are the first person who kills our own dreams, and we kill our dreams before they even have a shot at succeeding.
You may have had this happen if you've ever thought to yourself, like, "Maybe I can do this.
Maybe I can speak confidently in this big room with all these senior leaders present." But then another voice comes in and says, like, "What are you thinking? Are you ridiculous?" Who are you to think that's possible? Don't embarrass yourself.
You are struggling right now, so how on earth do you think that you could go for something even bigger? So we come in, and we squash the dream as soon as it starts to blossom in our minds.
