And my goodness, I have had a brief synopsis, um, of, of what we're gonna be unpacking today from your end, and when I say the headlines made me choke on my cup of tea, um, I, I'm not underestimating that.
I think it takes great bravery for anybody to come on to, uh, this podcast to talk about their experiences of infidelity because it is a very, very, uh, complicated, nuanced, and emotional topic for anybody, regardless of what part they have taken in an affair.
I think, um, having sort of gone through it and come out the other side, um, I'm working now towards actually helping other people who have been through the same situation.
And actually, to be able to do that and share my story, and which will hopefully resonate with people, not necessarily the actual story, which I call Shirley Valentine on steroids, but, uh, the fact that there's hope, that there's a life after divorce, separation, et cetera, et cetera, and to be able to resonate with people and help people if that's what they actually want.
Well, I know from the enormous feedback I get from this, uh, podcast that, yeah, people want catharsis, um, they want support, they want help, they want a community that feels, yeah, that feels like they, they are, they are understood.
And many people find, uh, this podcast because they are feeling quite o- isolated, quite lonely, confused, um, and all of those feelings.
So if that is you that's listening now as well, welcome to you, and I really hope that you find this a place of, um, non-judgment and an opportunity to perhaps reflect on individual feelings and experiences through, uh, the lens of my contributors, such as you, Andrew.
Well, um, the good thing is, is that it sounds as though, um, just from the off, that you have processed your story, um, really quite well.
'Cause I think when anyone gets to a point where they want to share their story to help others, it shows that they have gone through that whole, uh, emotional process.
Um, but I am gonna take you back there, and is that something you're okay to do?
100%, yeah.
I mean, it's a story, without a shadow of a doubt.
Um, just starting off briefly, my, my marriage was in, I guess for like the same as many other people, uh, it, it was an existence of a marriage.
Uh, we had three birth children, we were fostering at the time w- with, uh, with young people in our house and- It was a vibrant, big house, and to all intents and purposes, you know, anybody looking in, you know, you, you got it all.
You've, you've, you've got the, the house, you've got the kids, you've got the car, et cetera, et cetera.
And, um, we went through, uh, a number of very difficult periods relating to, uh, my birth kids, um, uh, to the extent where we had to get away.
