Suspense - "Affair at Aden" (Old Time Radio, 1958)

Frank Lovejoy heads the cast as John, an American oil executive in Aden, in this 1958 presentation of a Les Crutchfield script.

Originally broadcast November 15, 1958, Suspense brings us Affair at Aden.

John is in love with Beth, a young local woman played by Lillian Biaffe, but she is taken back to her tribal community to fulfill a childhood marriage promise to Fahad, portrayed by Barry Kroger.

Determined to reach her before the wedding, John sets out across unfamiliar desert country amid the tensions of the region.

The script had previously been heard on romance in 1954, with Bob Bailey in the leading role.

Now, back to the golden age of radio.

Arabia today spells trouble and oil, and the political ambitions of Nasser, Bourguiba, Hussein, and Ibn Saud.

But behind this tapestry of terror, beyond this harass of ambition, men still struggle for less public and more personal goals, such as a pretty woman.
