Coming up on the show today, our guest is Cam Inman of the Baria News Group, who's perfect to talk to today because he's a 49ers expert.
Like everybody who went on the trip, he fully immersed himself in Australia culture.
The 49ers secondary spent a lot of training camp, and I kind of raised an eyebrow.
Are they really going to be a lot better? They spent a lot of training camp talking about How much better they were going to be.
They played one of the best games by a secondary probably of the Kyle Shanahan era.
to take on a Dolphins team who is kind of doing the same thing the Niners did last week.
Halfley talked to the media there on Wednesday and said that spending the week together has been really beneficial for his young team.
He's seeing guys hang out in the public spaces, hanging out around campfires, lingering a little longer in the meal room.
And that leads me to one big opinion about the 49ers after one week of the season.
When it comes to professional sports, we really don't spend a lot of time anymore talking about chemistry, team bonding.
But the fact is that the best teams, the elite teams, the championship teams, they all still have it.
They all still have a trust in one another, a belief in one another and a personal connection with one another.
And sneakily, that might have been the biggest benefit of spending a week together in Australia.
The amount of time that these guys spent in a way that you wouldn't normally do it.
You don't normally spend a full week together eating in the meal room, dinner, lunch, breakfast, every single day on the plane, on the buses, back and forth, and experiencing a country that basically nobody had been to before.
And I just wonder if it creates an environment that helps something special brew for the 49ers this year.
They have one of the best coaching staffs in the league and a quarterback who everybody knows in Brock Purdy is only now entering his prime.
But there's also something you just can't quite quantify that comes out of a trip like the one the 49ers just had.
But for them, being in their locker room this week doesn't feel like they're doing that.
It's the same thing he's going to ask from his team in a new challenge this week in the home opener of the 49ers' 80th season.
