This is an inexhaustive list of things Tommy wish he knew before he started ultra running. Whether you’re just starting your ultra running journey, you’re considering starting, or you’ve been doing…
[gentle music] For the 101st episode, episode 101, it struck me that it might be a good idea to do, like, an ultra running 101 [laughs].
Or, well, the, the first thought that actually truly came to my head was running 101.
Wouldn't that be good? Um, but there's just too much to say on that, so then I was like, "Well, maybe we could do trail running 101." And then I was like, "Well, that's also, there's too much to say on that." Let's do a, let's do a sort of what I wish I knew before I started ultra running.
I feel like that's fun, and so that's what we're gonna do today.
I have 10 things I wish I knew before I started ultra running, and I think that's ultimately the question I'm, I'm answering.
What I wish I knew before I started ultra running, or it's sort of like an ultra running 101, everything you need to know about ultra running.
It's probably not everything you need to know, but I'm imagining myself having just started or thinking about just getting started and doing ultras.
What would I tell that former self? If I were to sit down with former Tommy and he was at, just about to start doing ultras, what would I like to know? That's what this episode is.
Before we dive in, let's do what many podcasters love to call housekeeping, so a bit of housekeeping for you.
Last episode, it was the 100th episode, and we had questions submitted by listeners.
You may have had your question answered.
There were also other questions that came in, and I didn't miss them.
I am aware of them.
It's just that I recorded the episode on the Saturday and we released it on the following Thursday, so many questions have, or some questions have come in since.
I am gonna do more Q&A.
I'm gonna do more listener questions.
So fear not, if you have submitted a question, it will probably be answered, unless it's rude or annoying.
Uh, it, it's likely that I'll, I'll answer it, so, um, fear not.
I, I wasn't ignoring you.
And this is also another call-out to anyone else who wants to submit a question.
If you want to feature on the next Q&A, which the quicker, the more questions we get, the quicker we'll do a Q&A.
If you want a feature, please do go down to the show notes and submit your question.
