89. Stop Letting the Economy Scare You: How Wealthy Women Read the News

And as always, I am so glad you're here.

And today I'm gonna kick off with another client story because I think with everything going on in the world, this is a good one to start with.

So this client called me a while back and I could hear it in her voice before she even said what was wrong.

She'd seen a headline that morning, something about the economy, something a little scary sounding.

The kind of thing that shows up in bold letters at the top of an app or that everybody's talking about on the morning news or shows or just something that your friends are talking about.

And she said, should I be doing something right now? I asked her a question back.

Like what? She went quiet for a second.

I don't know, something.

That same afternoon, I had a call with a different client, a woman who owns a manufacturing business.

She'd seen the exact same headline that morning.

but she didn't call me anxious.

She called me with a question.

If borrowing costs move the way that this is suggesting, does it change what I do about the equipment loan I've been sitting on? Same headline, two completely different reactions.

One woman felt the news happened to her.

The other one asked what that news meant for her and what she was doing for one specific decision she was already thinking about.

And that's the entire difference I want to teach you today.

Here's my promise.

By the end of this episode, you're going to have an actual process for reading economic headlines and not getting scared.

It's one that will allow you to stay genuinely informed without spending your life bracing for impact every time a scary word shows up on your phone.

Because here's what I've come to believe and know to be fact.

After years of watching how my most financially sophisticated clients handle the news, they don't feel less.

They just think about it in a different order and that difference has a name.

It's kind of like weather watching.

And just like with watching the weather or anything that you're watching, making you feel something is what's going to keep you tuned in.

And so just always remember that.

Fear, uncertainty, well, those are selling you.

And that's what we want to make sure that you're aware of.
