Speaking of orderly, I think one of the things that frustrates people with mail-in ballots is sometimes it takes weeks to get the final results in elections instead of having that instantaneous result either that night or the next morning.
What is Utah doing to speed up that process and make sure that things are coming in as quickly as possible?
Well, in Utah, we allow county clerks to pre-process ballots that come in, right? So they don't tabulate them.
They do all of that stuff before election day so that it's much quicker to tabulate them on election night.
Every state in the nation takes a couple of weeks to actually canvass an election.
You've got the counting, you've got audits, you've got all of these things that need to take place before an election is fully certified.
And for most races, if they're wide margins, you're gonna have those results on election night.
But if they're really narrow races and there's, you know, people who need to cure their signatures on their ballots or, you know, whatever.
If you want faster results, the more people that vote early, the faster they'll have results on election night.
Anything else you'd want people to know about some of the changes? It seems like we have made some changes over the last couple of years in the legislative session.
People are starting now to put the last four digits of their driver's license number or social security number on their envelopes as well as their signature.
Starting in 2029, they will have needed to opt in to vote by mail and then do that every eight years or as they get their driver's licenses renewed.
