And it's interesting to me that this isn't breaking t- news to you.

You've been hearing rumblings behind the scene.

Have you been hearing this as a member of the House yourself, that maybe something was going to be coming in this regard, and there were behind the scenes talks?

Well, o- obviously, we've been engaged, but this is ...

I mean, this, this came today.

This was news to me.

Um, here's what I'd say.

If you look at the statement, uh, you'll see President Adams and Speaker Schultz accepting the resignation, uh, of her.

And, and look, I wanna be sensitive, because Justice Hagen is a mother.

She's a fellow Utahn.

This is obviously hard, but I think she's doing the right thing.

And if you look across our society, institutional trust across America is at all-time lows.

You look at ecclesiastical church institutions, educational institutions, law enforcement, and especially the government.

It's, it's at an all-time low.

And I think what this is about is really restoring trust for the general public in the judiciary, which is a fundamental part of our, uh, our system and our government.

And I will point out, if you look at the statements around the JCC reform, which Maura referenced, you'll see not only Speaker Schultz's signature on there, not only President Adams' signature on there, you see Governor Cox.

And not only Governor Cox, but you also see Chief Justice Matthew Durant.

So this is three branches of government saying that we need to look hard around judicial oversight, and there's work to be done.

And I think that that should give Utahns a lot of confidenceThat this was handled with care.

It's very rare that you see three branches of government, especially lately, lock arms on an issue.

And I think it's gonna be an interesting conversation going forward in terms of the policy, um, and, and where we land.

But I ultimately think, uh, Justice Hagen did the hard thing here, but she did the right thing.

I do wanna read, uh, the chief justice's statement that he, uh, sent out.

He says, "I'm saddened that our colleague, Justice Diana Hagen, has chosen to resign from the Utah Supreme Court.

She was a valued member of the judiciary.
