Survilophy - Mental Survival Philosophy: Essays for Existential Coping in Late Stage Capitalism
Sep 11, 2026 · 18 min · 9 segments
SO LET'S EXIST. How to stop overthinking and start existing in a world that never stops rushing. In this video essay, we explore the mental survival philosophy of slow living, breaking free from…
Existing is a ridiculous probability.
Each one of us competed against millions of possible brothers and sisters who never made it to this plane, only partially if you are twins or triplets.
The fact that we were able to experience a body, to experience Earth in all its range of beauty and misery, it's something to be grateful for.
We made this sentence sound like a redundancy, but I truly mean it.
It's the first thing we need to remember.
Life in itself, it's worth living for.
Just for the ride, just for the peaceful mornings with a hot drink, just because we got the chance to be us.
We spend more time doubting ourselves than existing, than enjoying who we are.
That's why it's so important to internalize that we can still control our minds.
It's not our fault that we forget this, it's just how this world has evolved.
We don't dictate the pace.
Our decisions don't have a large impact in the big scheme of things.
They affect our immediate circle, but not much else.
Think about how our societies or companies conduct themselves in the decision-making process.
Remembering this daily allows us to focus on ourselves and our inner circle, if we are lucky to have one.
Shifting our train of thought from the mainstream back to us, focusing on our human features, it's the first step on the way.
If we are able to connect the natural actions that keep us alive with our minds, forgetting the dehumanized systemic layer, we start living and feeling as we are meant to.
Deep breathing makes us feel as if we are floating.
Our eyes provide us with the memories that we treasure and fear the most.
They made us be us.
Our nose takes us to places we didn't remember they existed.
Our ears decide who we add to our playlist and shaped our teenage years.
Our mouths allow us to taste the world if we are lucky to travel it.
Or we live in a city and get the washed down imitation.
experiencing everything life has to offer through senses, it's already a privilege that some of our peers don't have.
