Miriam O'CallaghanHostNow, your new album, Irish Rock and Roll Museum, it reimagines well-known Irish songs, including Linger by the Cranberries.
How do you transform a familiar song using only voices? And do you ever get to meet the bands or singers whose songs you perform?

performed with Mick Flannery with the RT Concert Orchestra for the Leonard Cohen concert.

We also, one of our members actually recently shared a stage with Dermot Kennedy, who we also cover on the album with the choir.
And we... cover a hosier song as well and some of us have long connections way back with him from singing in a group called Anuna.
Yeah, how do we transform a piece? It's interesting, yeah, the arrangements have all been crafted by different people we've met along the way and it just takes...
Like we have some beatboxing vocal percussion, which sort of fills in the part of the drum.

Yeah, I'd say we like we're an a cappella group, but there's another term that I really like that floats around Europe, which is like vocal or a cappella band, because we kind of have the structure of a band, right? Really often you hear that in linger like there's a soloist and then everyone else sort of covers the rest of it right um we like to pass around the solos as well which you hear in the anxiety and you know like that gives us the flexibility and i love that right because we're all essentially singers and faux instrumentalists as well right so but we don't always and that's what i like about our work as well we don't always imitate instruments like that's not our goal it's just like reinterpret or reimagine a song the instrumentation in a way that can be sung yeah And it's a really challenging thing to do.

But also we like to work with other arrangers, especially on the album you'll hear a lot of Irish composers and arrangers who've written some arrangements for us.
