So without further ado, the first thing that they are all doing, and I know you're gonna roll your eyes, because this is something that I talk about all of the time, but I talk about it all of the time because it matters and we forget it so easily, is that successful people are making time to work on their businesses, not just in them.
The whole message of my work is helping people to see the importance of working on their businesses.
The easiest clarification of what I mean by these two things being that when you're in your business, you're in employee mode.
You're keeping your business running today, right? You're fulfilling your products, your services, you're doing the day-to-day admin.
However, it's the on the business work where you're not the employee, but you're the business owner, you're the CEO, you're the founder.
It's that work that ensures your business is growing in the right direction in the long term.
Very simply, working in your business keeps it running today, working on your business keeps it growing in the future.
And the tricky thing with working on your business, and this is the whole reason that my job exists, that my core program on it is so popular, is that it's really hard to work on your business consistently by yourself.
Working on your business is one of these phrases that I think gets thrown around a lot.
And actually not many of us as business owners really know what that looks like for us.
It's the pretty obvious things of like checking in on vision, setting aligned goals, breaking down your plans into manageable chunks, tracking progress, adapting the plan based on what is and isn't working, celebrating your wins, picking up the learnings.
It's not crazy stuff that we're needing to do when it comes to working on our businesses.
The tasks in your business will always feel more urgent because there's deadlines.
Whereas when it comes to working on your business, you're not taking action that you're probably going to feel today.
If you don't sit down and cast new vision for the rest of the year and set your Q3 goals, you're probably not gonna notice that today, tomorrow, maybe even next week.
But you are gonna notice that in three to six months time when you reach the end of 2026 and realize that you didn't move your business in the direction that you wanted to.
