Helen Garratt | The Holy Spirit In Church | 7 June | St Peter's Brighton

So this is the last talk before I head off.

It's not my last day at St. Peter's, so don't worry, you will see me again.

I'm just beginning a short series that we're going to do Pentecost two weeks ago when we celebrated with the church across the world the coming of the Holy Spirit and if you like the birth of the church.

And so over three weeks, we're going to be looking at the outworking of that.

What does that mean that the Holy Spirit has come, that Pentecost has come, that we live as Christians with the Holy Spirit in our lives? And so this morning, I'm going to explore a little bit what it means about the Holy Spirit and the church and what that looks like for us.

So before I start, let's pray.

I'm going to pray.

Lord, thank you so much for the Bible.

Thank you for your word to us.

Thank you, Lord Jesus, for your grace to us.

Thank you that you know each of us individually.

And I pray that as we look at your word this morning, that, Holy Spirit, you would take the words that are spoken and the words that are read, and for each one of us, would you speak God's message to us this morning? Let everything that is helpful and true land in our hearts and our minds today.

Amen.
