Fr. Andrew Iskander - Homily for the 2nd Sunday of Epip. True humility, modeled after the simplicity of children, is essential for salvation—letting go of anger, speaking honestly, avoiding excess…
why is it that kids are able, or children are able to do that? Because they have nowhere else to go, right? They don't have a car to go meet their friends wherever they want.
So they have to decide, either I'm going to have no friends, or I'm just not going to waste my time in being upset or to be angry.
And that forces children to be very forgiving when they realize the bigger picture, right? But the older we get, the more we get to decide who we see and who we don't see.
But it also means to try harder to always be, not to always be comfortable with that freedom and to not have this persistence in anger.
