We are back with our third season of “Squared Up,” the Tower Square-based podcast with Swinford Media Group owner Bill Swinford, his wife Monica and producer Tom Mann. We are full of updates from…
That's what this podcast is for, is to keep you posted on what's going on in Marion and all other good places around the region.
And we'll go ahead and talk a little bit more about some of the other things we have managed to do this summer.
I've taken on a new adventure, and some people have really questioned, what am I doing? A lot of people are under the impression because Swinford Media Group is so active and because we have so much going on that I work, you know, 68 hours a week.
I have a crew that works very well for me, and sometimes because I'm, you know, up there that i i'm i'm not as good at doing what we do especially online socials video work editing all that kind of stuff it's things that tom does all the time and i'm not blaming it on my age because tom's older than me but but it's a skill set is not there so everybody else is doing those things and sometimes i get stuck just behind my desk doing administrative work some writing some some editing some um bookkeeping that kind of thing Well, I was finding, and we'll talk about Tom's health journey a little bit today, but I was finding that for my health journey, it was bad for me because I get up very early in the morning and sometimes I would go ahead and come on down to the office early in the morning and I would turn around.
So my daughter, who works at the Hub Recreation Center in Marion, which is a city-owned recreation center, one of the best in the region, had come to me and said that the early morning shift manager was leaving.
He's just the guy who's there opening the place and getting it open for people and dealing with early morning problems that none of the rest of the employees are crazy enough to get up and want to do.
And I told her, you know, well, it's interesting to me if that was between like 4 and 8 a.m. because that's the time when I'm just kind of waiting for other things to kind of kick in on the daily.
And I went in and talked to Chris, who's the manager at the Hub and a fabulous guy.
And so I'm now the guy there behind the counter early morning at the Hub when people come in.
We have a box of papers there every week at the Hub, so people pick up the papers and they want to talk to me about what's in the paper.
And I had a gentleman who I've gotten to know named Wade, who's the first man in the door every morning.
