Ep 50: La's New Recreational Alligator Season

So everybody, welcome Mr. Jeb to the podcast.

So go ahead, introduce yourself, tell us who you are and where you're from.

Sure.

So my name is Jeb Linscombe.

I'm the alligator program manager, actually the fur and alligator program manager for the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.

Obviously, the fur industry is very limited.

So the vast majority of my job revolves around the alligator program.

And I'm from extreme southwest Louisiana.

It's not even really a town.

It's called Klondike, Louisiana.

If you're an avid waterfowl hunter, you may know, you may have heard of Klondike.

It's about 10 minutes west of Gaydon, which is another small town that's sort of a famous waterfowl place.

But anyway, I've been with the department for...

Next month on September 1st, it'll be 27 years.

Started my career at Rockefeller Refuge, actually working more with waterfowl and wetland management than alligators.

But when you work in a coastal area, Uh, environment you're, you're working with alligators, even if, um, that's not your primary goal.

And then I've, so I was at Rockefeller about 10 years and, uh, I think the 11th year, um, of my career, I moved over to the alligator program and have been in the alligator program a hundred percent ever since.
