Milestone birthdays can bring up so much. Expectations. Reflection. Grief. Gratitude. Pride. Disappointment. Hope. In this joint episode, Nimesh and Stacey have a deeply honest conversation about…
So this, this topic came from a conversation we were having about you turning 50 and milestones and how do we feel about it.
So today we're gonna dive deep into where did you think you should be by now, and it's always an interesting question, right? Our expectations, where we, where we thought we'd be, and you know, a milestone birthday, and birthdays in general kind of bring that topic up.
It's expectation, right? I mean, we'll always say things like, "You're exactly where you're meant to be," and, and actually we do believe that, right? But there's still a human in us, right? There's still a human in us that, uh, has expectations, wants to be certain places.
You know, you turned 50 over the weekend, and actually, by the way, so everyone knows, we're recording this on Wednesday 9th, so it's 9/9, so hopefully you're feeling the 9/9 portal, uh, even though we're releasing it on Monday.
Um, it's not something that I've felt the weight of before, you know? I've always felt kind of excited about my birthday and excited about whatever season I'm in, and for some reason, this year, this milestone has just hit me really hard.
And I don't know if anybody who's listening can relate, but a lot of it is I feel like I'm not where I expected to be at this point in my life, and feeling the weight of that through this milestone has been really challenging.
Again, I remember we, we talked about this, right? I, I, I see, Stace, I see your life in terms of, you know, raising four kids and all the kind of the, the rebirths you've had to go to and, you know, kind of like in, in my eyes, you've ach- you've achieved so much.
And I remember through my milestone birthdays, probably more 40 than 50, and I, I looked at my life and my expectation would, would've been that, you know, I'd be married with kids.
Um- But through some of those conversations and through some of that, it helped to, helped me to understand why my soul made some of the decisions, the growth I've, I've gotten because of, because I didn't follow a s- programmed path, and we can definitely dive into that.
But it's never, you know, it's okay to feel that, right? It's okay to feel, um, you know, I, I thought I'd gonna be a different, a different space, a different...
I'm sure there's a lot of people listening here that kinda look at their life, and maybe there's a part of them they are disappointed.
I should be, you know, this situation in a, in a marriage, or earning this much money, or living in this location." And, um, you know, I feel like the last period, whether it's months or years, has really pushed us to, to keep ourselves honest, um, to let go of the things we've been holding on to, and it's hard, right? So as we start this podcast, I'd like you, if you're listening, to really ask yourself, where do you think, where do you, where do you think you would be, you'd be by this age? And you know, when I say to you you're exactly where you're meant to be, how does that make you feel? 'Cause you know, there's been different...
There's been times when, you know, I, I, I know I'm exactly where I'm meant to be, but does it, does it stop me from really kind of questioning, well, you know, would...
