so we well i don't know about tia but i went in completely blind so i didn't have a clue what this was going to be and i don't like i wasn't expecting anything but i definitely wasn't expecting what i got i mean i'm so glad i got what i did i i do like me a good sci-fi book or sci-fi coded and it very much is like that it's so it's down as a dark techno thriller mm romance and actually have an old that says it is very sci-fi called it with really really cool world building
and I think because it's in three parts as well so you've got like the current and then you go back to the past and then you've got go back to the current again and obviously like more people come into it and then there's like a plot twist at the end which will have you crying your eyes out I don't know like I don't know what I was expecting but it wasn't this and it was like I was so fucking happy that i got this and not you know like something that i'm kind of like oh yeah it's all right
yeah
like this was insane from start to finish this is insane so at the beginning you've got milo and he is at his house and his friend comes over and they're like having little conversations and he's like i keep getting gifts and i don't know where they're coming from and she's like well that's a bit weird like don't you think you know you should do something about that and he's like no I'm sure it's fine so then like he goes to go see his mum who's like in this home situation and there ends up being this figure that's got a mask on called the forgotten that's in front of him and he's like you're the person that's been sending me all of these gifts And after that, the Forgotten proposes to him that he has to go and work for Neurovance because they've got this neuromanipulator, which basically like makes you forget some of your memories.
And he says they're going to create this thing and you need to go and work there and make sure that they don't create it.
So he goes to start work at Neurovance.
So Neurovance is this huge, like, it's almost like an epicentre.
And so once you start work at Neurovance, you live on the site and everybody has, they're called cubes and they're basically just like little studio apartments that everybody that works on the site has.
And you're not allowed to like leave the site or anything like that.
Like the whole, that whole aspect, like there's a map at the start of the book as well and it is so fucking cool to refer back to.
Like you can see like the pods for where they live or the cubes I should say and all the different parts of the site so basically nobody can leave except when it's like at certain times of the year when it's like approved it's all very odd as well and there's like this no touching rule so you're not allowed to touch someone unless you've got explicit permission so we're talking even like a hand on the arm to like just a small gesture they're really funny about it but then things start coming out about the owner and why these rules were set in place and how those rules are actually enforced and what you think at the start in part one when he goes to start when he goes to start work at this neurovance place it all kind of gets a bit twisty and turny because people aren't who you think they are and the reasons things are being done aren't exactly why you think so anyway he goes to start at neurovance and then he bumps into a guy who turns out technically to to be his teacher.
So he bumps into him, he falls over, the teacher takes a bit of a liking to him.
He's a bit of a geek, like the main MMC Milo, he's a bit of a geek and he gets bullied.
He was so cute.
And the teacher that he bumps into takes a bit of a liking to him and sticks up for him against all of his other classmates.
So at this point in time, we're in the past.
So you've got the present, which is part one, And then you get to like this point where something happens, like a big pinnacle thing happens.
And then you go into part two and you go right back two years into the past.
And then you build back up to get to that exact point that just happened at the end of part one.
If you've read Alchemise, it's sort of like a bit of a similar situation with the three parts.
um where you go present past present so you build back up to that situation but then by the time you get to that situation at the end of the past you've got obviously a deeper understanding then of of why this happened and all the questions you had in part one so in part one you do have the second mmc who is called the forgotten and you don't know who that is for a while and when you get to part two and you go back to the past at the very beginning i felt like There was a lot of, so is that who the forgotten is? Is that who the other MMC is? Oh, I wonder if it's him.
So for a little while, you're not sure who the other MMC is because there's also another guy that's involved.
But...
And I can't say their names because I don't want to spoil it.
I want people to go through that experience of figuring out who the forgotten is.
