In the Garden - Jobbing around

Thankfully, the weather has cooled off a little bit.

We've had a really, really hot few days.

But yesterday and today have been cooler, thank goodness.

So...

It's actually, we can get some work done without sweating profusely because it's actually been far too hot even to come out into the, believe it or not, just getting out into the sun and being outside.

It's been too much.

So it's nice that it's cooled off a little bit.

The rain still hasn't come.

So we're still trying to conserve a bit of water.

Actually, there's going to be hose pipe bands coming in for a lot of the country in the next couple of days because water levels are getting very low.

We have our own well here.

So goodness knows what's going on down in the well and what the water supply is like down there.

We've no way of knowing.

So what happens is when we came to the house, 25 years ago, had no water supply.

So what we had to do is we had to get a big rig in and they drilled a border hole, which is about a 10-inch hole, 10-inch wide hole deep into the ground.

So they kept going until they hit water, hit the water table.

So it ended up being about 100 feet down to hit this water table.

And what they do is they lower a pump down there and that pumps up to your pressure unit and that brings water to the house.

So obviously that water table is replenished constantly by the rain and whatever's going on.

But, you know, it's not, they have been known to go dry.

And I suppose they do get depleted because, you know, there's nothing going into them.

And we're taking, you know, there's obviously a limit.

So, as I said, this is our third week of no rain.

So I don't know.
