You're thinking about what you're going to drink, what you're going to say, whether you should even go to something or not go, how you're gonna get through the night, the weekend, the next social event.
It can feel like you're putting way too much thought into situations that before you didn't really have to think about.
Your brain still sees alcohol as important, and the decision to be a non-drinker isn't fully stabilized yet.
So it's trying to protect you by scanning ahead, predicting situations, and figuring out how to handle them before you get there.
Your brain is trying to keep you safe in a situation where things still feel new and uncertain.
And I know it can feel frustrating to have to think about sobriety so much and like this is going to be your life forever, but this phase is about learning how to use that thinking in a way that actually supports you instead of just fighting against it.
