Data Center Moratorium Vote LG&E continues to be Louisville's utility company Stuart Benson Link to watch it yourself. It's three hours, so get your popcorn ready... https://bit.ly/4iG227p
This is a contract extension to continue utilizing LG&E as our electricity utility as a franchise operating in our public right-of-ways.
I talked about this last episode, and while most of the things that I said were true, one of the things that I did not get correct was that It is basically just saying yes or no to either keeping the status quo of the same company or going back to the table and figuring it out.
And...
We just did the same thing.
Yeah.
In committee, they voted to table it and then they brought it back out of tabling at council.
I thought that the votes were very interesting because there's been quite a lot of talk about taking our utility into public ownership.
And it's felt like there were a lot of council people that just acted like, It would kill them to do that.
And I wanted to read off the votes.
There were 18 yes votes.
So yes meant that they wanted to just keep it the way it was and keep LG&E operating in our public right of way.
And there were three no votes and four present votes.
And then there was also one absent, which was Ben Reno Weber, which we will get to in a second.
The 18 yes votes were Barbara Shanklin,
Paula McCraney, Andrew Owen, Kevin Kramer, J.J. Joseph, Dan Syme, Crystal Bast, Scott Reed, Marcus Winkler, Marilyn Parker, Anthony Piagentini, Stuart Benson, Betsy Buhi, Kevin Bratcher, Jeff Hudson, Jenny Mulvey-Woolbridge, Kaleel Batshon, Brent Ackerson.
And the three no votes were Shameika Parrish-Wright, Ken Herndon.
Shocker.
Shocker.
So weird.
J.P. Menninger.
The present votes were Tammy Hawkins, Donna Purvis, Josie Raymond, and Jennifer Chappell.
I just think that some people just like don't really understand that like we could have different things.
Right.
So that was that vote.
