The Art of Beginning Again | Ju.y 19, 2026

And this is probably a theme that we've explored here a number of times and maybe something you've thought about quite a bit for yourself the notion of beginner's mind or starting fresh or starting new but my question that i want to pose to you to begin with is if you found out right now that you had to start over in various areas of your life i wonder what that experience shows up as for you right now and you could pick the area so let's say your let's say your job your work.

Right now, you had to start the whole thing over again.

You had to begin fresh.

You had to begin new.

Or maybe you might even think about just like where you live, where you're located, the life that you've set up.

What if you found out that you needed to start over? You needed to begin again.

Or maybe there was some sort of health thing that interrupted your patterns and your processes.

And you realize you really needed to start over.

You need to start fresh.

You need a clean slate.

Or maybe there was a long-term relationship that came to some sort of end and you recognize that it was time to start over, start fresh, start new.

You might find that that question feels a little bit paradoxical in the experience and that a part of you, depending on the subject matter, you might feel really relieved at the idea of the notion like, oh, you mean I get to leave that behind? I get to do it fresh, do it new.

But then other areas of your life that might cause some anxiety, some dread and some fear.

I think, um, You know, for a lot of us, it's like professionally, maybe you have that sense of like, yeah, it'd be kind of fun to start over.

But at the same time, you're like, I've worked so hard to get where I am.

I've put so many pieces together.

Or maybe even your home, your life where you live.

It's like, no, I don't want to do it differently.

I've put all this effort and all this energy into crafting this.

And I know as I'm looking around the room that some of you are at stages in your life where life has really ungently or maybe gently forced you into this moment of starting fresh, starting new.

I think that this is a really interesting exercise to consider because.

It's not different.

It's, you know, when we think about these sort of bigger areas of our lives, work, relationship, home, money, and we think about the idea of all of that being taken away from us or having to start fresh or start new.
