Dating again after divorce can bring up a whole mix of emotions. Where do you even start? How do you know when you’re ready? And how do you navigate meeting someone new when your last relationship…
Orla DonoghueHost
Um, so I'd love to know then from you two, how have you, 'cause you both were in, like, long, long-term relationships, um, uh, so I assume it's very much part of your identity, who you were, like, your-
Yeah

So how did you navigate that transition from being married in this long-term relationship to, well, now you're getting divorced, divorced parents, so what, what was that like for you?
To be honest, I think Kate and I have had slightly different experiences on that front in terms of friendship groups that are going through the same thing, which I sort of feel like does help.
But I think, you know, both of us were probably one of the first in our groups that potentially, you know, were going through that process.
Um, but I think for me around, I just found that I sort of, I suppose, stopped being invited to do stuff, and things like, you know, when you're single, you're sort of seeking out a totally new set of friends really, or you're sort of launched into this world that y- is, y- is just all new, and you don't really ...
And you do, I felt personally, I felt very on my own.
I didn't really have, um, people that are going through the same experience necessarily.
And, uh, especially, and I, I often feel very overwhelmed with having so many kids.
Like, at the time, I don't know how many schools I was doing school runs to, at least three schools, maybe four.
But, um, i- it's all of that kind of stuff when it's all on you.
And even though you're originally were potentially doing that all the time, it's, it's then missing a soundboard even, and another adult to ...
You know, I find even this summer when I was away, a, a lot of the time, it was just me with my kids.
And although they're much more grown up now-
... my eldest is 20, um, it, there's still not really an adult that you would kind of ...
And, and that's, that's one major thing that I personally have found quite hard, and it's only when, you know, Kate and I have gone into business together, and, and we, um, I just find that a real saving grace, 'cause it's great 'cause I have Kate to chat to about, although it's not so great for her necessarily.
[laughs]
But it's just lovely to kind of share stuff, and actually, you know, it's that whole thing of, you know, lessens the load kind of thing, but hopefully-
... without dumping too much on someone else.
