Hey friend, Have you ever decorated a room and still felt like something was... off? Spent money on furniture and décor, but still didn’t love how the room looked and felt? Wish your home looked…
Okay, the first hack that we're going to talk about today is your lighting.
No one wants to sit under a harsh overhead light.
And if we're being honest, even if you're 22, that lighting doesn't make anyone look cute.
So let's add some more flattering light to your home.
You can put a floor lamp in that dark corner or put a table lamp on your nightstand or an end table, and you can use sconces or candles.
The goal is to have options for different times of day and different activities.
If you want your room to feel more cozy, layer your lighting.
And if having a cozy room is not enough reason for you, the right light bulbs can actually make you look about 10 years younger.
No Botox required.
So for rooms where you don't need bright, direct light, you can aim for a soft, warm light, somewhere in the 2,700 to 3,000 kelvin range.
And if you're looking at the lumens number, I typically recommend around 750 lumens for a lamp if it has a lampshade.
But if you have an exposed bulb or a glass fixture, I would typically take that down to about 200 to 300 lumens.
If you have bright daylight light bulbs in your living room or your bedroom, just changing out those bulbs can make such a huge difference, unless you prefer your home to feel like a dentist's office.
The choice is yours.
