Draft Weekend Preview: McKenna, a Defenseman Class, and Jarmo’s First Test

And today, we're breaking down the top prospects, the fourth overall pick, Bowen Byram trade, Alex Tuck's future, Brady Kachuk's impact on the Eastern Conference, and the biggest winners and losers of draft weekend.

So let's get into it.

So let's meet the future of the NHL.

Every NHL draft has a headliner.

And this year, it's really no different.

It's a generational talent named Gavin McKenna.

The Penn State winger enters the draft as the consensus number one pick.

He's 5'11 and 170 pounds, and McKenna isn't the biggest player in this draft class.

But scouts rave about his vision, his hockey IQ, creativity, and ability to completely control games that he's playing in.

He's the type of player who could become the face of a franchise.

The type of player that changes expectations overnight.

The type of player who can make a fan base believe again.

And when people look back at this draft 10 years from now, McKenna is probably the player most expected to define this year and this draft class.

But after McKenna, things get really interesting.

So let's talk about the top prospects and what you need to know about them.

The number two prospect, Ivar Stenberg.

He's a 5'11", 183-pound winger from Frölunda, Sweden.

He's ranked as the top international skater, and scouts have him viewed as the most gifted offensive player in the draft outside of McKenna.

This player is extremely creative.

He's dynamic, and he's dangerous every time he touches the puck.

Keaton Verhoff is a defenseman out of the University of North Dakota.

He's 6'3 and 208 pounds.

He is the top-ranked North American defenseman.

This guy's big.

He's mobile, he can skate with the puck, he's physical, and he's already built like an NHL player.
