Mitch McConnell made his first appearance back since he was hospitalized back in June.
And don't we all wish we had the ability to be gone from work for three months without having to declare bankruptcy because we've lost our jobs and our medical bills are higher than the cost of a new house, all while Republicans vote against those privileges they enjoy so publicly.
And did you see his first vote? Someone had to lean in and remind him how he was going to vote.
Look, I feel for the guy.
What he has been through is horrible.
But how can we not look at all this and see that our political system is an absolute joke? We've had bad presidents before.
I remember thinking he was a clown and an embarrassment, a corrupt leader who should be jailed.
And I'm embarrassed to say I actually voted for him in his first election.
So, not knowing any better, I voted the way they did.
After that first election I voted in, I finally accept being gay and started to pay attention to how elections affected me and my friends.
it reinforced in my brain that religious conservatives saw me as a threat.
Not just in their ability to win an election, but a threat to everything they saw as traditional American values.
And it was hard to wrestle with that.
I felt like I was still the same ethical, moral, upstanding U.S. citizen.
and I was seeing people cheering them on.
If their goal was to make me feel unwanted, unlovable, and un-American, they were doing a great job.
So, this week, I thought I'd tell you how it all came crumbling down.
