Starting college is an exciting new chapter, and we’re here to help you settle in! In this special orientation episode, we chat about what to expect during your first few weeks at SETU, from finding…
So Imelda, break it down for me.
What is orientation? What a good question, Megan.
And it's
probably one that we get quite a lot because people are like, I'm starting college.
What's actually happening? But pretty much in the most simplistic terms, orientation is your first introduction to college life.
We do orientation and it's basically designed to help you settle in, meet new people, understand how your course works.
learn about the sports that we offer and opportunities available for you.
Think of it as your welcome to SCTU or as we call it, start SCTU.
And we both know that starting college is a huge transition, whether you're coming from sixth year and you're after finishing leaving search or if you're coming back as a miniature student.
And we know it can feel exciting, overwhelming, And maybe even sometimes a little scary because I won't lie, when I was first starting college, I was like, what in God's name am I doing right now? But orientation is really there to help students feel more comfortable, answer questions like we are there on the day to support you and make sure everyone starts with the information and the support that they really need.
Yeah, exactly.
And it's the first big introduction to college life.
As much as it's so nerve wracking, I still remember my orientation day to this day, walking in and being so nervous.
But it's that, how would you say, really the next step in your, or the next chapter in your life.
So it's that first day in the next chapter of your life.
So really with that...
Goosebumps right there.
Yeah, you
know,
because it is, it really, really, really is.
You learn about your course.
Yeah.
So really, it's as well for you to see, is this course right for me? Yeah.
You know, so it lets you kind of go into orientation.
You'll meet your classmates and some of your lecturers, your programme
