Sendai Lads: An Atypical Life in Sendai
Oct 7, 2026 · 10 min · 7 segments
I don't go to Tokyo very often. But when I do, I always notice something. In this episode, I talk about Tokyo, how my relationship with the city has changed, and why coming back to Sendai feels…
I was flying from and to Narita this time and on the way there I took a night bus directly from Sendai to Narita airport so technically I didn't even go to Tokyo in the first place and on the way back I originally had no plans to stop in Tokyo either I was just going to go home from the airport but then I found out there was a Sendai garage show in Shinjuku that happened to fit perfectly with my schedule so I bought a ticket and decided to stop by which meant that after getting off an overnight flight, I went straight from Narita to Shinjuku, watched wrestling, and then went home to Sendai.
The last time I properly went to Tokyo and stayed there was in August 2025, when I went to see a Les Miserables concert.
And before that, I went in April 2025 for Meiko Sotomura's retirement match.
And honestly, that feels about right to me.
The main reason I go is usually because there's something I really want to see.
A wrestling show, a concert, something like that.
Otherwise, I don't really have much reason to go.
And when I'm travelling abroad, I actually tend to avoid flying from or to Tokyo if I can.
