I'm so excited to talk to you about your go-to spot.

You picked an absolute classic, but I also want to talk to you about your own restaurant, Gold Coast Kitchen, which is also on First Hill.

It's near the hospitals, next to the bar, The Hideout, which I go to a lot.

So Gold Coast Kitchen has classic West African dishes, Liberian and Gideon cuisine especially.

And when I went for the first time, I went with a group and you walked us through the menu, which I really appreciated actually.

And pointed out the classics, but then also prompted us to be more adventurous, maybe more adventurous than some people feel comfortable being.

How did you put your menu together? You know, this mashup of classics and these, if you know, you know, type of dishes.

definitely wanted the classics on there.

Like, you know, things that are more palatable for everyone, such as the jollof rice dish.

and something that I know that we, as in other West Africans, would want.

You know, what makes a place West African? What makes it Ghanaian, Liberian? And so things like the okra soup have to be on there.

It's made very well.

We have a cured tilapia that we cut into it and then smoked fish as well.

If you're not afraid of that slimy texture, definitely go for it.
