Everything You Actually Need for Vet School (and What Can Wait) with Emi Jones

First of all, we're gonna talk about must-haves before day one.

The first one really goes without saying.

It's a comfortable backpack.

For me, I carry my laptop, chargers, snacks, water bottle, my notebook, and sometimes scrubs, so it's really important to have something that's comfortable to use.

My backpack is literally from college.

[laughs]

Oh my gosh.

It's literally the same one.

But it works, right? And I think both of us have, like, the comfortable pads on the straps-

Mm-hmm

...

so that it's not wearing on our shoulders too much, things like that.

It also has to be able to fit all of those things.

I feel like some of the backpacks I had-

Yeah

... just wouldn't fit the level of items that you need for vet school, which is-

Yeah

... an insane quantity of items.

I feel like in college I had less things to carry around, but in vet school I definitely have carried around more things.

So definitely wanna make sure you guys bring a comfortable backpack.

Second one is a reliable laptop.

Your laptop will probably be one of your most used items, so make sure you have something that is reliable.

I use mine for taking notes, watching lectures, taking online exams, and studying.

So you don't necessarily need the most expensive model, but you want something that's dependable and reliable and ideally has a good battery life.

So the fun thing is that, uh, all of us who don't have good laptops have to plug in our [laughs] laptops for every single lecture because they're running out of battery for exams, and then, um, a lot of people are replacing laptops now that we're in fourth year, which is really disappointing.
