We sat down with multi-instrumentalist, looping artist, singer, performer, and events booker, Jermaine! We had a great time learning about what it's like being a musician around the service industry…
Yes.
How does being a gigging musician help you when you're booking others at the office? What do you take into consideration when you're, you know, either having people approach you or, you know, you're going through all these emails of I'm sure multiple people hit you up constantly.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
There's always so many emails.
But I mean, yeah.
Having been a musician myself, I feel I feel like I see it on both ends, though, because it's like I've been a musician for so long and I also owned a music venue.
So it's like I've seen like
A little bit of
everything.
Both sides.
You know, I see like,
you know, when you're dealing, when you're the venue and you're like, okay, we have overhead, we have staff, we have all these things that we need to make sure that we're able to pay.
And cover.
And we also need to make sure that, you know, we also want the musician to one, be paid fairly, but also like you're selling tickets or things like that.
We also want to make sure that, you know, your show is also like bringing money in.
Right.
You know, and then on the musician side, for me, I'm like, Where's my money? Yeah.
My
money.
I want it.
So and I and I think and I've always had like a business.
I've always been like kind of about business in that way.
But like before.
I don't even know if I'm answering the question I'm just talking now
Yes.
