The Art Journal Detour

Otherwise, what I wanted to talk to you about today is the joy of creative reuse.

I know I've talked to you about it before, and I'm going to keep talking to you about it because it is something that is very dear to my heart.

Specifically, I wanted to tell you today about my journaling practice.

It's not the kind of journaling that you would think of usually, or at least that I think of when I think of journaling.

When somebody tells me they're journaling, they're writing in their journal every day or whatever, however many times a week, whatever, but they're writing their thoughts down in a journal.

I occasionally do that kind of journaling, but the journaling that I'm talking about here is art journaling.

So I'm not actually writing.

I am experimenting.

I am playing.

I'm trying out new techniques.

I'm trying out old techniques on new materials.

I am essentially playing and experimenting.

Those are really the best words to describe it.

I'm also doing it in parameters.

I set parameters for myself.

I decide on the size of my little play experiment.

I decide on the frequency of that play experiment and I stay within those parameters because that helps me to not get overwhelmed.

It helps me stay very light and playful within it.
