Politics. Iowa. Working people. No bullshit. That’s what we’re about on *The Sage Against the Machine Podcast*, and our conversation with Leila Staton, the 22-year-old…
Bob LeonardHostAnd thank you again to Layla Statton in House District 54, Canada up there, for joining us on Sage Against the Machine.
When I was campaigning up there, they were everywhere all the time, doing all they possibly can, working their asses off.
But we've got to move on to our next couple segments here on the Sage Against Machine, a little bit shorter segments.
But the first one I wanted to get to talk about was in Iowa politics, especially news came out recently.
Reports that text show that Zach Lane's campaign was warned about running mate Derek Wolf's financial troubles on the day Wolf was selected.
The report describes debt and legal disputes and raises questions about what the campaign knew and when.
Bob, and I put this in the rundown as quoted dumbassery because I know you've had a field day talking about this.
But what was your thoughts? You sent me the text message with the story, but what were your thoughts when you heard about this? And then what are your thoughts in regards to it? I'll just say my first thing off the bat was Zach Lane and his team need to do a better job of vetting people.

Well, first, we have to thank reporting first by Laura Bell on exposing that Zach Lane had all of these unpaid debts and that there was a criminal investigation that his farm was in deep financial problems.

And the Lane campaign tried to just talk about this as being a normal refinancing, no big deal.

And Tyler Jett dug in even deeper for the Des Moines Register, and he got some records and people to talk, neighbors that Derek Wolf owed money to.

And he somebody shared texts with him that say that the that Zach Lane and everybody, you know, knew about it, that the campaign knew about his financial problems.
