Sacred Men exists to build strong and virtuous men in a weak and degenerate culture.
Let me start with a man.
If you've heard smart guys talk about him, they talk about Augustine, right? But whatever.
He was ambitious.
He was addicted to lust.
He was chasing status.
He was climbing the ladder of worldly success.
He even fathered a child out of wedlock.
This was a man who, in his diary, he once prayed, and I kind of, I like the honesty of it.
He says, Lord, make me chaste, but not yet.
In other words, Lord, take away this lust, but maybe a little later.
Now, how many of us have, you know, honestly prayed something similar, right? That's a man who doesn't really think that sin is deadly.
I'm going to play around with it a little while longer.
Pleasure, money, philosophy, sex, ambition.
He ran every route.
And he found all of it incapable of satisfying the desires of his heart.
And after God got a hold of him and saved him, he wrote a line that has really echoed down the centuries.
He said this, speaking to God, you have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless until they rest in you.
Here's what he's saying.
He's making a design claim.
He's saying you were made by God for God.
The creator knows how you were built and why you were built.
