But before any of that, there is something that happened yesterday, and I'm sure you can guess what it is, um, that is significant for Rutgers football.
That was on Saturday.
So what happened yesterday? Well, Athyn Kaliakmanis played football for Washington.
He, uh, got subbed in about halfway through the first quarter because Marcus Mariota got hurt.
Wish him nothing but the best, um, but he got his foot landed on in a very awkward manner.
Not gonna show it here, but if you saw it at home, you know exactly what I'm talking about.
So that caused Athyn Kaliakmanis to be the last quarterback standing for that roster that was healthy, and they threw him in there.
And um, you know, it, I wanna show you guys a few of the key plays from the game because it was definitely a up-and-down performance.
Uh, Bleacher Report gave it a C plus, and honestly, it was kind of a microcosm of Athyn's Rutgers career.
Uh, he had a horrid offensive line, unfortunately, and an intense welcome to the NFL.
So I'll show you guys exactly what I'm talking about with that.
This was one of the, uh, first plays of the second drive, I believe it was.
Um, so this is how he got welcomed.
DeForest Buckner, right to the chest.
Um, yeah, that offensive line didn't do him any favors, and he got hit very hard on the, uh, play that was right after that.
What is up, John Jacobs? Any significance to the numbers, or is that just random numbers? Yes, scarlet red.
I don't know if this is exactly scarlet red, but it's close enough for now.
Um, yeah, so Athyn definitely got off to a tough start, not just because he didn't play bad necessarily, but he just wasn't dealt any favors.
And yeah, we miss Athyn for sure.
Um, Dylan Lonergan has been the closest we've had to compatible as a quarterback, or competent I should say.
Um, him and AJ Serace, they both clearly have talent, but looking at how Athyn played for Rutgers and how he earned an NFL roster spot, got drafted, played a freaking game overseas.
So that was the first significant moment, was him getting absolutely railed by DeForest Buckner.
Pause.
