This week, Mandie and Laura talk about the transition from summer holidays to the routine of school and work. They explore the challenges and emotions associated with this transition, as well as the…
Yeah.
And it's such a difficult time of year.
I know I say that about every single time of year, but there is no reason.
You haven't started a
conversation not like that, have
you? Yeah, yeah.
How are things? Oh, they're difficult.
Yeah.
But this... sort of last week of the school holidays or the last few days of the school holidays is probably the most challenging out of the entire holiday time, aren't they, Laura? Because we've had that sort of calmness, hopefully, with the reduced anxiety, not having to go to school, not having those pressures put on our children.
um we've been able to create a little bit of fun and make some of those memories as when it's been um appropriate and and people can manage that but now is the time where the reality of getting back into routine is starting to hit and if any of our parents listening are anything like me my My energy is definitely in reserve at the moment.
I've got a lot into being emotionally available for the children, doing nice things with the children, giving them some positives to, you know, put in the bank so that we've got that there for later on.
And it all takes our energy because we're also possibly juggling work or work Running at home and all the other things that that entails, like you've said about walking the dog.
I can't remember the last time I walked my dog at a normal time.
It's just a lot.
It's all those plates that we're spinning at the moment.
And now our children's anxieties are going to start ramping up because they're going to be going back to school.
We did an episode about doing that back to school.
So hopefully we're doing the double checking the route, reminding people, our children, what the school looks like, what the teacher looks like, how it's going to look, timings of the day and all those kind of things.
All those familiarities.
Yeah, to try and
help reduce some of those anxieties.
But as parents, we've got to keep pushing through.
And then we can start on our own recovery journey, which is what we wanted to talk about today, wasn't it, Laura?
Definitely, definitely.
You know, school holiday recovery.
Yeah.
