God is a Loving Union of Three // Evangelism for Normal People

Matthew 3 from verse 13, then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John.

But John tried to deter him saying, I need to be baptized by you.

And do you come to me? Jesus replied, let it be so now.

It is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness.

Then John consented.

As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water.

At that moment, heaven was opened and he saw the spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him.

And a voice from heaven said, this is my son whom I love.

With him, I am well pleased.

The heavens open here, right? When the heavens open, what do you see? In England, you see rain.

You see a lot of rain.

Not today.

Scorcher today.

But usually, the heavens opening is an idiom that we use, and it kind of means rain.

And it means rain in the Bible.

In Noah's day, the heavens opened, and there was the flood.

But a couple of times in the Bible, it means this literally, that...

People literally got to see into the cockpit of all reality, the curtain parts, and you get to see who's running this thing, actually.

Ezekiel chapter 1 and here in Matthew chapter 3.

Normally, we have no idea about the heavens.

Normally, the heavens are like a big mirror to us.

We look up into the heavens and we claim to be talking about spiritual reality.

Really, we're just talking about ourselves.

Have you ever noticed that warlike people, they imagine warlike gods.

And you're like, big surprise.
