So today the quote was work harder than your excuses because last week I had committed in our masterminds to finish clearing a hard goods racket.
I did not do that.
I had one shelf left.
And you know what? That did not feel very good.
And it was sitting here and I was looking at it and I was making excuses and yeah, it wasn't getting done.
And I thought, Well, darn it.
Why am I wasting all this time and energy making an excuse for what I didn't do? It would have been easier just to sit down and do it at some point.
So that's what I did today.
And I thought about all those little things in our life that we make excuses for that we'll say we will complete, say we will do commitments we make to ourselves.
And what happens when we don't keep those commitments and we start working on excuses? Why? And that energy is wasted.
If we are looking back with curiosity, why didn't that happen? What can I do differently next time? That is the way to look at it.
Because looking at it as a failure, Spending time and energy making excuses is taking away from actually getting it done, right? We can learn something from that.
If we didn't complete a tactic, if we didn't complete a goal, it is good to look back, little curiosity.
All right, well, why didn't that happen? Was it ineffective time management? Was it an unrealistic goal? Did something happen over the course of last week that I wasn't able to complete that? Like, what is the thing standing in my way? Instead of making an excuse, And saying, well, you know, like, I didn't feel well, or I ran out of time, or take a hard look at it.
Curiosity.
All right, well, why did I run out of time? Well, why didn't I feel well? Well, why? Why did all of that happen and I didn't mean it? So let's stop with the excuses.
You know, we don't hit a tactic when we don't hit a goal.
Let's put zero time and energy into making an excuse and look at why it didn't happen with a little curiosity so we can do better moving forward.
So we are going to work harder than our excuses and spend no time at all or energy making an excuse.
It didn't happen.
Why didn't it happen? Okay.
It's not an excuse.
It's curiosity.
It's a reason.
It's something you can fix going forward.
