And I was thinking a lot about silence.
So I like...
I have a constant ringing in my ears, so silence can be a little bit challenging, um, because it, it tends to bother me more when everything is really quiet.
I live in a fairly quiet area, um, and I like, I like silence.
And it just reminds me of that Rumi quote, um, "Be quiet and sit still, you're drunk and on the edge of the roof." Yeah, that.
There's something that happens in silence.
And, uh, Molly and Samantha would laugh at me sometimes because I don't-- I wouldn't work with music on.
A lot of times I do or listening to a podcast, but a lot of times I work in what they refer to as serial killer silence, like complete silence.
And there's something good about that.
And I think, you know, maybe we're not utilizing the silence enough.
Maybe we are occupying our brains.
Maybe we're using that to avoid something or being alone with our thoughts or focusing on what we're doing.
Uh, a lot of times, you know, music, I, I consider, like, I'll use it for motivation to get moving.
Yeah, love it.
But sometimes that silence, you know they say silence is golden, right? Um, the sound of silence, all of, all of these things.
I think silence is a really important thing that maybe we should be incorporating in our lives and doing intentionally, right? Like, what, what can we learn from that silence? What can we appreciate when everything is silent? What can we focus on intensely when there is silence? Yeah.
All right.
So I'm gonna appreciate silence, and I'm gonna be more intential-- uh, intentional about, you know, like when I go upstairs, not to immediately turn the TV on or turn music on or be listening to something, like, at all times.
Because that's kinda the trend.
That's where I go, like, always listening to something, not really, not really appreciating the silence or not just sitting with my thoughts.
And yeah, sometimes I feel drunk and on the edge of the roof, and I need to sit still and be quiet.
All right.
There you have it.
And the reason this, the reason this came up was I was talking to my friend who just completed a, uh, two-week hike on the Appalachian Trail, and I was asking her what, you know, what, what it was like because there...
You know, she didn't have music.
