And my guest for that conversation is Jean Hanekom, the National Director at SAMRA.
It's always an interesting conversation for me when we speak about the automotive space because, I mean, there's many careers in the automotive space.
And I can imagine there's many young people who are interested in those careers.
But do young people know just how vast this space is and the number of careers and the types of careers that are available to them? I don't
And I think you raise a very good point there, right? There's generally a misconception in the space that if you're going to become a mechanic, it's going to be a dirty job.
If you take on any one of the various opportunities with entering into the automotive sector, you see a steady progression.
And regardless if it's a mechanic or a panel beater or a spray painter, the pattern remains very similar.
You start off not even as an apprentice, typically as somebody that's working in the wash bay or assisting as a general worker in the shop.
And somewhere along the lines, you become an apprentice, you become a trained artisan, and then you become a shop manager.
And then somewhere along the lines, that changes and you start to own your own shop.
