Car feature: The First-ever study of Jozi vehicle emissions

Mallory, what does it take to, um, do the work that you do? What did you actually study to be in this space?

Uh, actually, myself, I studied public health.

Um, and I'm an epidemiologist by, um, training, but have found myself in this space through, um, an interest in air pollution and health.

Um, so as you said, we at the TRUE Initiative, um, we undertook the first, um, study of real world vehicle emissions in South Africa, in Johannesburg, um, collecting over two hundred and fifty measurements of real vehicles on the road throughout the city.

So be- be- before we, we, we get to the study and how it was conducted, um, because this is a first ever, when you got into this space, maybe you can share with us what was your understanding of what emissions are looking like in South Africa in relation to the rest of the world?
