Patrice WashingtonHostAnd there are people that you are frustrated with right now for continuing to treat you in ways that if you're being honest, you may have taught them work for you.
I'm talking about the everyday dynamics, rituals, habits, patterns that we find ourselves in.
We find ourselves participating in when privately we wish it was something different.
Every time we take on a responsibility that we don't want, or we keep making ourselves available, or we keep covering the gap or telling somebody it's fine when it's absolutely positively not fine for you, you are giving them information.
Your behavior is saying, this works for me, even while something else is going on inside of you, right? Something is saying, I don't want this anymore.
And then we get frustrated because they keep doing what we have demonstrated to them is acceptable.
In our last episode, we talked about the ways that we abandon ourselves while calling it something else, like trying to make it noble.
And today I want to show you how self-abandonment can become an agreement You never actually meant to make.
Because sometimes the question really isn't, well, why do they keep doing this to me? Sometimes the better question is, what have I taught them works for me? And that is what this season is about.
This week's affirmation is I give myself permission to say what I want instead of hoping that people figure it out.
I release the expectation that people should know what I have never clearly communicated.
I am worthy of relationships, partnerships, friendships and agreements where expectations can be spoken, clarified and mutually understood.
I can ask for what I want without controlling how another person chooses to respond.
I choose the clarity of solid agreements over the resentment of silent ones.
Declare with me today, I give myself permission to say what I need instead of hoping someone will figure it out.
