Austin Ekeler joins Real Talk with MJ to talk about launching his new fantasy football league, Fantasy Royale, and why he wanted to create a new experience for fantasy football fans. Ekeler also…
amazing.
And in 2021, you had for my fancy people, y'all remember this over what he said, got 12 rushing touchdowns.
and eight receiving touchdowns.
That's 20 total touchdowns in a year.
This is kind of like a two-part question.
Did you ever feel, you know, because as an undrafted guy, you know, trying to just earn your spot and, you know, just make the team, you know, you assume early on.
But then there was like a turn of – all right, not only am I just happy, you know, hey, I'm in the NFL, something that I maybe didn't know I could potentially do in the future, but also, oh, I really belong here.
And I think it's a two-part question because did you realize how this important fantasy is in the community and how that has helped your personal brand?
Yeah, so going back, actually the latter first, I didn't realize how important fantasy was until I started to actually have some success and see that I was affecting people across the board.
People would be coming up to me, I'm a Bears fan, I'm an Eagles fan, but I got you on fantasy.
And this is like when I'm in my prime, like crushing it for everybody, like 20 touchdowns.
But I had like 20 touchdowns and 100 catches in one year and like 1600 all purpose yards.
massive years, like 30% of people that had me on the team won the championship.
I would go into away stadiums and everyone would be wearing their away jerseys and stuff.
And then I would come through and they'd be like, Austin, I need you this week.
And doing that for years really kind of showed me, like, this is a very passionate group that doesn't care about the logo.
Um, especially if you talk about passion, if you've got people that are betting on you, the sports betters are the most toxic out there.
