But yes, I have to admit though, lots of times I was reading it as a page turner and it wasn't until I was at the end of the train.

And then you thought, oh, I better come up with a question.

What have I just read? Oh, thank you.

It's a real statement on our society and a society that we should be looking long and hard at, isn't it?

Yeah, because I think like a lot of crime novels, I mean, you would have read a lot recently and there's no negative commentary on any of them at all.

But a person like me could not have written a rural noir crime thriller.

It just wouldn't sound authentic.

I don't know anything about that environment.

You just couldn't do it, right? So it's not that I've been deliberately difficult and made it urban, but it's not like that rural environment and that really trendy thing at the moment.

I can't do that.

So I can make a comment on the things that I know, but I can't make a comment on, you know, how bad it is in a drought-stricken farming community.

course, but goodness me, don't you just talk to the grittiness of the urban environment?

Yeah, and the thing is as well, you know, why can't, I mean, This is not my language, so please don't take it out of context to anyone who's listening.

But, you know, Jane Harper herself, queen of rural noir, has said that she packs her stories with country more on.

Like that's a deliberate thing and I'm quoting there.

So, you
