Jenny McCue, Vice President of Global Research and Clinical Development at the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America (MGFA), discusses research highlights to be presented…
What is MGFA's commitment to research?
MG is-- it's a rare, complex autoimmune disease, and really for a long time it, like many rare diseases, wasn't given the attention that patients and researchers and clinicians believed that it should.
And so part of our job, and fundamentally, like, what we are about, is trying to change that by funding and connecting, um, scientists and clinicians who are all working on MG around the world.
Um, and part of that, which we'll get to, is what we do with the scientific session.
But our job is to both amplify research underway and create means of funding for new research that we know, um, will help move therapies and treatments forward.
What are the current funding priorities?
So, um, again, they can obviously contact me, but specifically, we fund a series of different grants.
So we have pilot grants, which focus on early phase research and kind of lead basic science research.
We have a Nancy Law grant, and we have some other fellowship grants that can fund more, um, ba-- like clinical and translational type of work.
Mm-hmm.
Um, but also relevant to your question is this year, um, we're launching like three new series of grants, um, focused in zero negative, um, biomarkers and in pediatrics.
Um, we have easy, like, reference on grants that have been funded in the past and ways to apply moving forward.
