It shows up in the school pickup line when another mom mentions something your child said or did and it stops you cold.

It shows up in the toddler years, in the teenage years, and in every in-between year because motherhood has this way of consistently asking more of us than we feel ready to give.

But I want to ask you the question the Holy Spirit asked me on that phone call all those years ago.

What have we reached for God first? Not as a last resort, not after we've exhausted every other option and we're desperate.

First, on purpose, before the phone, before the browser, before the group chat, before the coffee.
