Now, we have heard from so many of you how everything we are talking about goes so far beyond sounding more executive and just sounding more polished for the sake of it.
Inside of this program, you will take advantage of lifelong skills you need to get recogn- recognized and compensated at the level that you deserve, to have impact across your organization.
And we, we have also heard from so many of you, and this was a big part of our conversation yesterday, how you are sick of capping your dreams just because others refuse to recognize your potential, right? That, uh, your company refuses to invest of you, or this particular person isn't hearing you.
Because you know that is such a disservice to your own financial security and future, what you can create for your family, giving back to your community if you had more time and resources, the customers, the clients your products could reach if you had a bigger seat at the table.
This, I believe, deep to my core, give me a plus one if you agree with this too, that talent deserves visibility.
Being good at what you do, though, and communicating it can unfortunately be two different things.
So that is why t- today we are talking about and getting into presenting with poise, and we are uncovering the sneaky reasons why you may be being talked over in meetings right now, and it has nothing to do with developing a thicker skin or out-talking other people.
We're going to, uh, reveal the number one thing you should ask yourself before you open your mouth, and the vast majority of people get this wrong.
And the- we all know this, the bar for what counts as impressive in meetings has greatly evolved over the last year or so.
I'm gonna get into it and, uh, reorient you to what you need to be focusing on now.
Now, it's important we cover this today because I'm going to guess most of you here, you spend the majority of your time in meetings, right? I'm sure a lot of your week is in meetings with other people.
The average professional, like the average knowledge worker today, spends nearly three hours a day, 35% of their time, in meetings.
That number jumps to 50% of your time once you reach the senior level, which means, obviously, the majority of your working time is spent in real time live conversations, whether it is still virtual or not, with the decision makers, the people who are, have influence on your future.
One meeting, you know, you have probably seen this firsthand, can shape how a VP, a cross-functional leader, a client, a stakeholder across the org, how they perceive you in a single interaction.
Let's say you are in a quarterly planning meeting, very apropos for this time of year, as we're just on the cusp of Q4.
You finally jump in with a recommendation you've been thinking about all week, and you're two sentences in and someone cuts you off.
"Yeah, but I, I think really the issue is this", and suddenly now the conversation pivots and your point is gone, right? Has that ever happened to anyone? Just tell me yes in the chat if that has, has ever happened to you.
And the confidence hit, you feel it immediately, but the bigger problem is what happens after that.
